Very happy to be back at Unit 1 Gallery Workshop with the wonderful Stacie McCormick. I had the most amazing experience last year as part of the Radical Residency VIII group of 10 artists all working side by side in the Unit 1 Gallery space. So to be back in the gallery alongside so many exceptional artworks is a real treat.

I was delighted to be selected for this years RBSA Photography Prize and will be showing 4 artworks from my series Chromogenesis. The Jury was made up of Sabah Chaudhry, Nicholas Priest and Verity Milligan and I am grateful for their generosity in selecting four work from my submission. It is always a privilege to be able to show work in a group show but one of two artworks doesn’t really give the audience a good sense of the work.

I will be exhibiting as part of the Portable Collective thanks to our wonderful artist friends in Bonn. The exhibition is a satellite show to a currently travelling exhibition entitled Packaging. Nine of the Portable Collective will be showing work on the theme and we will be curating and installing the exhibition in Bonn at the BBK artroom.

To mark the city partnership between Bonn and Oxford in 2022, the BBK Bonn, Rhein-Sieg e.V. (Bundesverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler) began an artistic exchange with the Oxford artists’ collective PORTABLE. In a joint, collective project, 100 works of art were created, which were exhibited in Bonn in 2023 and in Oxford this year. With the “Portable” exhibition, the Oxford artists are now presenting their own works in Germany for the first time. Among them are: Anne Grifiths, Mark Clay, John A. Blythe, Miranda Miller, David Barron, Penelope Brook, Ella Clocksin, Emmett Casley and Deborah Pill.

Featuring over 130 artists, OPEN @ The OFS aims to showcase creators from every stage of their careers. It breaks boundaries in curation and allows artists to see their work interact with others. This interdisciplinary show allows all makers to come forward and offer their work to the salon-style hang. This is our first ever OPEN at the Old Fire Station, and we are already planning our next!

OVADA is another arts organisation in Oxford that I have built a relationship with over the last few years. I had my MA in Education group exhibition here in 2015 and was honoured to be awarded the OVADA development prize back in 2017. I’ve also run workshops here and value the contribution OVADA make to the local arts community. This was a great show, it’s a great space for a salon style exhibition and a fitting event to help celebrate 20 years of contribution to the arts.
